puso, hindi plastic

The only image and slogan that has brought me close to tears, that has hit me in the past week of rains and floods are those by Mark Gosingtian, who did “in my country, everyone’s a hero” in 2009. I didn’t care much for that, but that was really more a measure of me, than of Gosingtian’s creativity, and heart. Which is, by the way, in the right place.

“Puso, Pilipinas” is the slogan he came up with for the tragedy that has been these rains and floods.

i do not understand this insistence that PNoy calling out Noli de Castro and TV Patrol on doing commentary instead of straightforward news delivery, is like the emperor’s new clothes. is like a kid having the temerity to tell the emperor, you’re naked sir, everyone — including yourself — has been duped into thinking you’re wearing something. Claudine’s cojones

Oh yes, it’s as macho as it sounds. And that’s also what informs the anti-Claudine rhetoric that’s on the interwebs, i.e., Twitter and Facebook. So in a fistfight that began between two men, the backlash has been on the one woman in the story; and while it’s been fascinating watching Raymart and Mon Tulfo going at it on television, the backlash has been more strongly against the woman.
